I've coached lacrosse and field hockey for the past 11 years at all different ages, from middle school to college. I've been on two coaching staffs that developed women's lacrosse at their respective colleges and both have been national ranked at their level since their second years of inception. My background starts with boys lacrosse in 8th grade, one years of girls lacrosse my senior year of high school and two years at the University of Oregon. I started coaching in 2010, received my Masters in Sport Psychology from Michigan State in 2014, and moved in Raleigh, NC in 2015. I had coached at Saint Mary's School for the past three years. I recently stepped away from high school coaching because of my job, but was thrilled to the have the opportunity to coach at the club level again.
I started playing 37 years ago in California where we had 8 game seasons, and continue to play with the Raleigh Lacrosse Club, Team 8 and OWU Legends. I was introduced to women's lacrosse when my daughter Caroline started playing 4 years ago. I started coaching with Red Devils this year and was an NCHSAA women's lacrosse referee for the 2021 season.
I grew up in Syracuse, NY where I began playing lacrosse in the 2nd grade due to watching my sister, Kerry and I, watching our older cousins play guys lacrosse. Shortly after we were hooked on the sport! From there I began in the ULA league, played both for the school team and Marcellus Girls Lacrosse Club as well as club lacrosse with Star Riders. Countless tournaments, clinics, and school seasons kept lacrosse a high priority in the Boyle house. During my junior and senior year I ranked in the top 100 for potential girls lacrosse college recruits in New York. Although numerous college lacrosse opportunities came, I decided to pursue academics and go to pharmacy school at MCPHS University in Boston for a 6 year excelerated PharmD program where I graduated with my Doctorate of Pharmacy in 2018. I then went on to complete a PGY1 Resdency specialized in Ambulatory Care at Auburn University. During my time in college I played recreation lacrosse around Boston and during alumni games on college breaks. After my residency, we moved to Mobile, AL where I began coaching for Mobile Youth Lacrosse and St. Paul's Girls Lacrosse. Upon moving to North Carolina in 2020, I found the Red Devils Lacrosse and began coaching girls lacrosse for them.
Bayley Phillips is a senior at Apex Friendship High School where she has played on the Varsity Women's Lacrosse team all four years, serving as Captain last year. Last season she was nominated as 2nd Team All Conference and 2021 Honorable Mention All-Region East. She has played travel lacrosse for over 6 years, both attack and midfield. She has coached for the last year and hopes to continue coaching and working with kids in college next year. She is looking forward to helping her team grow in their skills and love of lacrosse.

Scott Olive hails from Levittown, New York, where he attended Division Avenue High School. Growing up in Long Island, he played against some of the best competition in the world. He helped lead his team to a Nassau County championship and was nominated for the All-County team. He would go on to play lacrosse at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York. During his college career, he amassed 91 total points, and RIT made it to two final four appearances. After college, Scott played attack for various clubs, and was the leading points scorer on the Remnants, Masters, Suffolk County, and Power Security Lacrosse clubs. Additionally, he was the leading points scorer in the Suffolk County Indoor Lacrosse League.
When Scott moved to North Carolina, he began focusing more on coaching. He became a coach at Cougar Select and founded “Lacrosse Trainer.” Through Lacrosse Trainer, he hosted clinics and “play-days” where kids of all ages and all backgrounds could come together and play lacrosse. He also spent three years as a head coach for Davis Drive Middle School and lead them to a 17-0 season and middle school championship. For several seaSons Scott supported Green Hope High School as an assistant coach. and was the head coach of Apex Friendship High School when the school first opened. He continued coaching when Cougar Select turned into Red Devil United. In 2012, he became coach of Red Devil 2018 team which would go on to be one of the best in Red Devil history. Ranked as one of the top teams in the nation, they won seven tournaments in a row with only two losses. He stepped down following the 2014 summer season to become director of Red Devil United. As director, Scott wanted to stay involved with the players. Referring to himself as a “floater coach,” he enjoys going to different practices and games to help on the sidelines and interact with the players. A mentor to players on and off the field, Scott makes an impact on players every day. He is looking forward to the upcoming season, and hopes to build on the program’s success.
Scott is also the Head Varsity Boys lacrosse coach at Cary Academy. His Varsity Carolina National Team took second place in the National Tournament of Champions. Scott's 2021-22 Carolina National Lacrosse team won the National Lacrosse Classic Championship advancing them on to the Brogden cup. There, they swept Canada in a three game world championship series! Coach Olive was able to win the NLC for a second time with Carolina's 2022-23 team.

Tom Kinney has been with the Red Devil Coaching staff for a few seasons now as a goalie coach and early high school development teams. He played high school lacrosse for the Desert Mountain High School Club Lacrosse team in Arizona and Glastonbury High School in Connecticut. During his time, he played as both a goalie and defenseman. Tom earned leaderships awards as a freshman and sophomore for Desert Mountain’s team. He is currently the Head Coach for Cary Christian School’s Varsity Lacrosse team where he has produces multiple All-Conference players and 1 All-State player.

James Chakey is new to the Red Devil coaching staff. He played high school lacrosse in Pennsylvania and D1 lacrosse at Penn State University. James played for the Nittany Lions all four years and graduated in 2016. As a senior, he earned the Nittany Lion Club’s True Grit Award, given to a student-athlete for overcoming adversity while succeeding in the classroom and on the field throughout their college career. In addition, he was the 2016 winner of the B1G Conference Sportsmanship Award, as well as a finalist for the Yeardley Reynold Love Unsung Hero Award, both to recognize leadership, dedication, integrity, humility, sportsmanship, and more. As a senior, he won the 2016 Theil Family Lacrosse Award, as well as the Penn State Lacrosse Citizenship Award (awarded to a member of the team for their active duty in representing the team on and off the field). In addition to his time on the Penn State varsity team, James coached with Mesa Fresh Fever Lacrosse in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. One of the top lacrosse clubs in the Pennsylvania, James coached for Mesa between 2011 and 2017 as the team competed well at a national level. Now residing in North Carolina, James is excited to be coaching with Red Devil United.
Sean Gracey has been coaching for Red Devil United’s High School Red team since 2016. He grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and attended Roman Catholic High School. Sean played on the varsity lacrosse team for all four years and was selected to the “All League” team as a junior and senior, as well as a Brine Top 205 selection. He continued his lacrosse career at Cabrini University in Radnor, Pennsylvania where he lettered four years and was a four-time PAC (now CSAC) conference champion. In his years with the team, Cabrini qualified for the NCAA tournament all four years, and was undefeated in conference play.
Following his four years at Cabrini, Sean played forward in the Quebec Lacrosse League for the Windsor Eagles and Sherebrook Extreme. He played for the US Lacrosse Development Team, before playing for Team USA, and represented the nation in the Alex Herbeskey Memorial Tournament in Prague, Czech Republic. Following his time on the team, he played club box lacrosse for the Outlaws Box Lacrosse Club and Athletics Box Lacrosse Club.
Sean's coaching career is just as impressive as his playing career. While in Pennsylvania, he was the assistant coach for New Hope-Solebury High School for five years before moving on to become the head coach at Lansdale Catholic High School, a position he held for four years. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Lacrosse Coaches Association for those nine years and was on the Pennsylvania All-State Selection Committee and USILA All-American Selection Committee for four years. In addition to high school lacrosse, Sean coached club lacrosse for the Lions Lacrosse Club and Twist Lacrosse for five years and ten years, respectively. He was also the founder and director of Crooked Crease Lacrosse, an instructional and recreational lacrosse league for 1st through 8th graders. He has coached with Red Devil United and Lacrosse Trainer since moving to North Carolina in 2016, and we are excited to have him working with our top High School boys team! Below are his expectations for the upcoming season.
The club lacrosse experience is a time of development and exposure – a chance to follow passions and create lasting memories and relationships. All of this happens through camaraderie and time spent with teammates. And most importantly, in the classroom through academic achievement. The game of lacrosse provides an outlet to participate in a competitive athletic environment, where athletes push themselves to excellence and build upon their academic success with new challenges, life skills, and lessons learned through success and failures. This environment allows athletes to take responsibility for their own paths, follow their passion for lacrosse, and find their personal and athletic potential through a sport we love.
I look forward to the upcoming season and helping these young men achieve their personal and athletic potential.
Coach Rice is a Milford, Delaware native where he grew up playing all of the sports he could join when he wasn't on the beach. In 9th grade, after growing really sick of baseball, Coach Rice joined his newly formed high school lacrosse team at Milford High School. Lacrosse quickly became his sport of choice as he quickly picked up the goalie position. He would go on to be a four year varsity starter for Milford, earning all-conference honors as well as being a senior captain and senior state all-star game participant.
After high school, Coach Rice attended Syracuse University and played at the club level for lacrosse, wrestling, and ultimate frisbee (yes, it's a real sport). When he survived four very cold winters in the harsh tundra known as Central New York, Coach Rice headed south to attend East Carolina University for his Masters and Specialist degrees in School Psychology.
Post-ECU, Coach Rice travelled halfway across the country to Denver, CO where he lived with his wife for almost three years. While in Colorado, he coached for Eaglecrest HS (Aurora, CO) where the team had its most successful season in over a decade. Coach Rice and his wife, Becca, moved back to Delaware where they grew their family (son Camden, four years old--guaranteed you talk to him once on the sidelines). While in Delaware, Coach Rice coached at the varsity level for Milford HS and was the head coach at Postlethwait Middle School for three years (in addition to coaching wrestling and football). In addition, he coached at the Varsity A/Elite level with 1787 LC and Saltwater LC.
Coach Rice and his family moved to NC in December 2019 to be close to his wife's family. He is currently a school psychologist with the Orange County School system as well as a national trainer for Youth Mental Health First Aid. He is incredibly excited to get to coaching with the 2024 team and providing more support for RDU as a goalie coach.
Coach Leach is new to the Red Devil Team. He played high school lacrosse (as well as football, wrestling, and swimming) in South East Pennsylvania. He went on to play all four years at Catholic University of America and was a part of a conference championship in 2016 as well as a named captain his senior year. After college he now works for a Hybrid Cloud Solution’s company called NetApp doing sales to the Department of Defense.
Wesley Roberson went to Northwood High School where he was team captain and lead team and conference in multiple defensive statistics and was All-Conference, All-State, and All-American. During those years he was a Red Devil in his travel career. After High School, he
attended Guilford College where he played for four years. Wesley is currently the Head Junior Varsity coach at Seaforth High School and an assistant for the Varsity program.
Bryce Sneed attended Apex HS where he played for 4 years, was team captain and lead Apex HS to the state championship. After High School, Bryce attended Wingate University where he was Captain and MVP, fifth Face Off percentage nationwide and third Percent in nation for ground balls. Bryce then moved on to become the Assistant Coach for Men's Lacrosse at North Greenville University. Currently Bryce is Head JV Coach and Assistant Varsity coach at apex HS for the Boys Lacrosse program.
Lucas Stralka attended East Greenwich High school located in East Greenwich Rhode Island. Stralka was a senior year captain, and won a Division 2 state championship. Stralka was also awarded the tournament MVP. Stralka led the state in points with 84 senior year. He tallied over 250 high school career points and was all conference junior and senior year. Stralka attended Anna Maria College, Paxton MA Freshmen and Sophomore year. He attended Mount Ida College Junior and Senior year.
Stralka was 2nd team all-conference as a sophomore and team captain, MVP. He led the team in points as a sophomore. At Mount Ida college Ma, in his Junior and senior year he lead the team in points. Stralka was a member of the100-point club just after two seasons as a mustang. Stralka was a member of the all-conference team both years. He was also Junior and Senior year MVP. Stralka has over 200 college career points. Stralka coached for MetroLacrosse since 2015 prior to moving to North Carolina. Stralka is extremely excited to be given the opportunity to coach these young athletes and get them ready to compete and win games.

Dave Myers has spent two years with Red Devil United. He attended Wayland High School in Massachusetts and was a defenseman on the varsity squad. A team captain and Dual County All-Star his senior year, he went on to play Division II lacrosse at Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts. He started all four years at Bentley, and played defense, LSM, and “defensive midfield.” During his four years, Bentley had a 41-13 record, made it to the NE-10 championships three times, and played in the ECAC playoffs three years. Furthermore, Bentley led the NCAA in fewest goals against during his senior year. After college, Dave played for various clubs and indoor lacrosse teams before moving to North Carolina. In addition to coaching for RDU, Dave spent two seasons coaching for Lacrosse Trainer and three years coaching for the Cary Bulldogs. Dave also volunteers at elementary schools, teaching PE classes how to play lacrosse, and volunteers at NCLax in Apex.
Coach Ahart is from Syracuse, NY and started coaching for Red Devil United in 2017. He has coached the 2025 and 2027 teams (including the RDU 2025 team that took 4th place at the Dick’s Sporting Goods Tournament of Champions). Tom is a US Lacrosse National Level II certified coach and is currently finishing the highest Level III certification.
He played both Division I lacrosse and soccer at Niagara University in NY. He was a starter in the midfield on both teams since his freshman year and was awarded honors to the MAAC All-Academic team three times.
Most of Coach Ahart’s sports accolade’s were on the soccer field. He was the Syracuse Player of the Year during his senior year of high school and was 3-time First Team All-League. He was the Oswego High School MVP his senior year and elected team captain during his junior/senior years. He was a 5-time member of the the New York State Olympic Development Program (ODP) team and trained with the best players in the US for the National Team. His elite soccer club, the Syracuse Blitz Magic, won the NY State Championship 6 years in a row and a won the gold medal at US Indoor Soccer Championships. He also won a gold medal in the Men’s Open Division at the NY State Games.
Dr. Ahart is a Chiropractic Neurologist and holds three post-doctorate degrees in neurology. Most of his academic work revolves around traumatic brain injury and concussion rehabilitation.
Coach Ahart’s greatest pride is his wife and six children. This influences his coaching style by providing strong values, a tireless work ethic, and an encouraging attitude. With multiple kids playing lacrosse, he hopes to be coaching and cheering for Red Devil teams for many years to come.
From Vestal NY where he was a 3 year letter winner, and 2x First Team All Section 4 in Lacrosse. Also played Football and Basketball in high school.
Jim started his college career at Pfeiffer University where he won 2 conference titles and was named Freshman of the Year, as well as being named to the All Deep South Conference team 2x. After this second year at Pfeiffer, Jim transferred to Roanoke College. Jim was named Captain, and was also picked as a First Team All ODAC Conference selection as a senior. Jim also was also the Griffin Award recipient in his senior year for outstanding leadership.
Jim started his coaching career as a Graduate Assistant/Midfield coach at Wingate University. He helped lead Wingate to a NCAA Final Four appearance in 2002. He continued coaching career coaching various high school teams in the Charlotte NC such as Charlotte Latin, Myers Park, and South Meck, as well as Team Charlotte (now known as Team Carolina). Jim was also the co-founder of Weddington High School's Lacrosse program. As Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator, Jim helped lead Weddington to a City Championship in their first year as a varsity program.
Jim has been coaching with Red Devil Lacrosse since 2018. Jim currently lives in Holly Springs with this wife Stephanie, and two children, Carmen, and TJ.
Cory has been coaching with Lacrosse Trainer and Red Devil United for eight seasons. In his time, he has coached many different age groups, and now is coaching the 2025 age group for the second year in a row. Born in New York, Cory attended Canandaigua Academy in high school. He started his junior and senior year on Varsity at defense. In his time, he received an All-League honorable mention (Junior Year), and received First-Team All-League honors (Senior year). Furthermore, he was elected team captain, selected to the New York Senior All-Star Game, and won the Robitaille Award for Sportsmanship, Leadership, and Dedication. He went on to play D3 lacrosse at Keuka College where he started all four years at defense. He was elected team captain from Sophomore to Senior year, and received First Team All-League honors as a Junior and Senior. Following college, he played in a season of post-collegiate travel lacrosse before coaching up the next generation. In addition to coaching for Red Devil and Lacrosse Trainer, he was a former coach for the Junior Varsity Men’s lacrosse team at Cardinal Gibbons High School from 2001-2003.
Chris grew up playing lacrosse in Baldwinsville, NY just outside of Syracuse. He was a first team Section 3 all conference LSM his Junior year in high school and second team in close defense his Senior year. Chris continued his lacrosse career at RIT in Rochester, NY. He has been coaching for the Red Devils for two years.
Scott Gordon is the current Head Coach at Cary High School (since 2009). He is from Durham, North Carolina where he played midfield for Riverside High School where he was a part of a NC High School State Championship 1998 and a high school All-American. Scott then went on to play four years at Div. II St. Andrews University, 2-year All-Conference player and advanced to the Division 2 Final Four in 2002. After graduating with a degree in Mathematics in 2002, Scott returned to the Triangle and played post-collegiate lacrosse with Great Atlantic Lacrosse Club.
He became the head coach of Cary High in 2009 and has coached for RDU since 2013. In 2010, Coach Gordon was named North Carolina High School Coach of the Year, East Region.
Scott lives in Cary with his wife and 3 kids.
Ryan grew up playing lacrosse in Maplewood, NJ attending Columbia High School where he started varsity for three years as an attackman. During his Junior Year of High School, Ryan was among the State Scoring Leaders landing in the top 5 for Points, Goals, and Assists while receiving several State, Conference, and Division honors. Ryan would go on to play Division I lacrosse for the Marist Red Foxes from 1998-2001, starting all four years as an attackman and tallying 75 points over his career.
A work transfer would bring Ryan to the Triangle area in 2003. He maintained a brief presence in the sport for a few years as a Head Coach for the NCLA Boys program and a member of a post-collegiate travel lacrosse team. In 2012, Ryan returned to lacrosse as the Head Coach for Saint Mary Magdalene coaching their Middle School Boys for 2 years.
Now that his children are playing lacrosse, Ryan looks forward to once again enjoying the sport through the Red Devil Program as a Parent and as a Coach.
Conor Ryan is an alum of the Red Devil program and was a goalie coach for during the summer of 2019. Conor was a four year starter at Green Hope High School and a first team All-State goalie his senior year. Conor is helping coach the goalies this summer, as well as working as an assistant coach for the 2022 team.
Zach Criddle is one of the original Red Devils, first a player and now a coach. Full of energy and very approachable, Zach works with our younger age groups to teach them fundamentals. He was a 4-year varsity starter at Apex Friendship and currently plays club lacrosse at NC State. He bleeds red!
